Rajputana Haveli is a nineteenth-century family haveli in Bani Park, restored over four years and opened as a 28-room hotel. The courtyard, the frescoes on the stairwell and the jharokha windows are original; the wiring, the lift and the bathrooms are not.
Rooms are arranged around two courtyards and differ from one another — some have alcove seating, one has a private terrace, a few are on the small side at 190 square feet. All have air conditioning, hand-blocked textiles, a minibar and a marble bathroom. The heritage rooms are the most characterful and the least soundproofed.
Dinner is served in the main courtyard under the trees, with a short Rajasthani menu and a longer continental one. There is a small pool, a rooftop for sunset, and a puppet performance on Thursdays that guests either love or avoid. The old city gates are a ten-minute drive and the railway station five.
At this price band the haveli competes with new-build four-stars, and it wins on atmosphere rather than facilities. If you need a gym, a business centre and a lift to every floor, look elsewhere; if you want to stay somewhere that could only be in Jaipur, this is it.

Great value at this price. Hot water was instant, WiFi held up for video calls and housekeeping came by twice. The breakfast spread could use more variety.

Very good for the money. Not luxury, but everything worked and everything was clean, which is what matters. The location made the trip easy. The staff remembered our names by the second morning.
