Old Manali Backpackers is a hostel on the far side of the Manalsu bridge, five minutes uphill from the cafés of Old Manali. It is a young, sociable place with a bonfire on most clear nights and a common room that stays busy until midnight.
Accommodation is four- and six-bed mixed dorms with a locker, a reading light and a power socket per bunk, plus three private twin rooms for anyone who wants a door. Bathrooms are shared and separated by gender, with hot water in the morning and the evening.
There is a kitchen guests can use, filter coffee from 07:00, a small café doing eggs and pancakes, and free luggage storage for people heading off on treks. Bring a warm layer: the heating is electric and the nights get cold from October.
Practical notes: check-in from 12:00, check-out by 10:00. Cancellation is moderate: free up to 72 hours before check-in, then part of the booking is charged. Unmarried couples are welcome with valid ID. Pets are not allowed. Local photo IDs are accepted at the desk. GST of 12% is added at checkout and shown as a separate line before you pay.

Beautiful property with well-kept grounds. Our room had a small balcony that made the stay. Only note is that the restaurant closes a little early.

Check-in was quick and the room was ready before time. The bed was genuinely comfortable and the AC worked well through a warm night. Would book again.

Solid stay for a work trip. Desk space was usable, the room was quiet and check-out was painless. Parking was easier than I expected for this area. Worth noting the lift is slow at breakfast time.

We stayed three nights and had a lovely time. The property is quieter than the photos suggest, which suited us perfectly. Front desk arranged a cab at 5am without any fuss. Small thing, but the tea in the room was actually good.
