Lake Pichola Palace occupies a converted lakeside residence with its own ghat and a jetty for the hotel boat. Almost every public space looks at the water, and the City Palace is close enough that you can hear the evening bells across it.
The 52 rooms and suites are large, from 450 square feet upward, with lake or courtyard views, hand-painted detail on the walls, a four-poster or king bed and marble bathrooms with a separate tub. The two heritage suites have their own sitting rooms and jharokhas over the ghat.
There is a lakefront restaurant, a rooftop for dinner, a bar, a spa in the old stables and a pool set below the terrace. The boat runs to Jag Mandir on the hour through the afternoon. Breakfast is served until 11:00, and a private dinner on the ghat can be arranged with a day's notice.
Peak season is October to March, and rates over Diwali and New Year run at roughly double the shoulder months with three-night minimums. Monsoon is the underrated time to come: the lake is full, the hills are green, and the same suite costs a third of the December rate.
Practical notes: check-in from 14:00, check-out by 11:00. Cancellation is strict here — free up to 168 hours before check-in, with a partial refund after that. Unmarried couples are welcome with valid ID. Pets are not allowed. Local IDs are not accepted — bring a passport or another non-local government ID. GST of 12% is added at checkout and shown as a separate line before you pay.

Location is the strongest point — everything we wanted to see was within walking distance. Rooms are compact but very clean and the staff were helpful at every turn. The staff remembered our names by the second morning.

Very good for the money. Not luxury, but everything worked and everything was clean, which is what matters. The location made the trip easy. Worth noting the lift is slow at breakfast time.

Great value at this price. Hot water was instant, WiFi held up for video calls and housekeeping came by twice. The breakfast spread could use more variety.

Solid stay for a work trip. Desk space was usable, the room was quiet and check-out was painless. Parking was easier than I expected for this area.
