Amer Fort View Resort is built into the hillside on the Amer road, with the fort on the ridge opposite. Most of the 96 rooms and all of the suites see it, and the resort has kept the sightlines clear rather than building up.
Rooms start at 420 square feet and open onto either a private terrace or a balcony. Expect a king bed, a daybed in the window, a walk-in wardrobe in the suites, a rain shower and a soaking tub. The three villas at the top of the property have plunge pools and their own entrance.
There are two restaurants, a bar built into a stepwell, an infinity pool, a full spa and a gym. Breakfast runs to 11:00 and is worth arriving hungry for. The resort runs a car to the old city on the hour and can arrange early entry to the fort before the coaches arrive.
Rates peak from October to March and over Diwali, when minimum stays apply. In the summer months the same suites cost less than half as much, and the property is genuinely pleasant if you plan around the middle of the day.
Practical notes: check-in from 15:00, check-out by 12:00. Cancellation is strict here — free up to 168 hours before check-in, with a partial refund after that. Unmarried couples are welcome with valid ID. Pets are not allowed. Local IDs are not accepted — bring a passport or another non-local government ID. GST of 12% is added at checkout and shown as a separate line before you pay.

Beautiful property with well-kept grounds. Our room had a small balcony that made the stay. Only note is that the restaurant closes a little early. Everything worked, which is rarer than it should be.

Location is the strongest point — everything we wanted to see was within walking distance. Rooms are compact but very clean and the staff were helpful at every turn. Small thing, but the tea in the room was actually good.

Friendly staff and a genuinely comfortable room. It rained the whole weekend and the in-room dining saved us. Prices were reasonable too.
